2008 Launchpad Application Requirements

Bands are required to record three of their songs on CD or tape and submit them with a completed application form and $25 entry fee by Wednesday, February 6, 2008.  APPLICATION PERIOD CLOSED.

Competition Rules

  • Applications are open to any musical group formed outside the traditional school music program ensemble with two or more members.
  • All members must be currently enrolled in a Wisconsin high school.
  • One member of the group must be active in their school music program.
  • All applicants are required to submit one recording, either CD, tape or online, with three selections. Total performance time could not exceed 15 minutes.
  • Original and cover songs are accepted.
  • Lyric sheets for the three song selections are required.
  • Selections performed at regional competitions need to be the same three selections that were originally approved.
  • Bands have the option of submitting three new selections for the state competition (WFSM needs lyric sheets only).
  • Profane language or dress will not be tolerated.
  • Bands are expected to respect all equipment at regional and state competitions, including not standing on amps, damaging instruments or misusing facility space.
  • One member of each group is required to identify a music teacher who has influenced their music education.
  • Up to 15 groups will be selected to perform at each regional competition.
  • The competition will be held at an area high school or other performance facility.
  • The regional competitions will be held in March, April, and/or May.
  • The state competition will be held June 21, 2008.
  • Three bands from each regional competition will be selected to perform at the state competition.
